Pool Construction Tour

Exactly four years after our house was finished being built, we began building a pool. This was not a fun exercise and I would not recommend it to anyone, however, there are some great advantages and, as I write this, nearly a year after these pictures were taken, I realize I have forgotten some of the testier moments with our pool contractor and subcontractors.

As you can see, we have a very large back yard and, it was pretty boring. And so, as a way to get the kids back here and to provide a place for Kirsten and I to escape for a while, we started this process.

Unfortunately, we don't have any real good pictures of what the backyard was before construction was started. These were taken with a disposable camera and scanned in so the quality isn't great but no pun intended, you get the picture.
A view from the side...

Below, this guy on the bobcat was incredible. As the digging progressed, the area he had to work with got deep and small, plus on one end, the electric line feeding into the house is but a foot away. He would tilt the machine back, like popping a wheelie on a bike, swing it around and gun it coming out of the hole.
